Billie used to be in parades like Del Norte’s Covered Wagon Days and Creede's Fourth of July and Miner’s Day parade. She also was in many events and the National Bison Association Winter Conference.
Billie’s upcoming books will be focused on meeting new children and adventuring with them in our nation's beautiful National Parks in order to create awareness and strengthen kids' connection to the outdoors and their country. Billie will also have other adventures away from the parks.
In June of 2010,Billie went to North and South Dakota. She visited The National Buffalo Museum and met her cousin, White Cloud, a white bison. Billie went to Badlands National Park, Roosevelt National Park (the North Dakota Badlands), the town of Deadwood, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument and much more. She adventured with the author and photographer this time because Val couldn't go. Billie anticipates her newest book to be released in the fall of 2010!
Judith Stone - Author
Connecticut native Judith Stone, resides in Colorado with her husband and children. She is author of Billie The Buffalo Children’s Books, a Freelance Writer, and Speaker. A Registered Nurse for seventeen years, Ms. Stone holds a degree in science.
Ms. Stone, along with the photographer, give paid and free presentations at schools about bison, how they developed Billie Books by drafting, editing, rewriting, and publishing-just like they do in class. Then, they read their latest Billie book. A simpler presentation is given for pre-schoolers through first grade. Hands on materials are passed around the circle to enhance a child's learning experience. Billie The Buffalo books are written for kids to enjoy for years of reading and learning fun. They begin as read aloud books and progress to read assist then self read books, in accordance with the child's reading level. These books are beautifully photographed for children to place themselves into the experience and develop a love of reading.
